MillionPlus comment on the 2018 Student Academic Experience Survey

07 Jun 2018

MillionPlus, the Association for Modern Universities, has commented on the 2018 Student Academic Experience Survey, published today (7 June). Reversing a prior downward trend, the survey reveals a significant increase in the proportion of students at UK universities, including modern universities, who perceive ‘good or very good’ value for money from their course.

Dr Greg Walker, Chief Executive of MillionPlus, said:

“It is encouraging to see an increase in the number of students who perceive good value for money from their course and that as few as one in twenty current students would not go university if given the choice again after their experience. I am pleased to see a 3% increase in reported value for money by students at modern universities. These findings are testament to the sustained efforts of thousands of staff across UK universities who help ensure that the quality of higher education in Britain remains high and so respected internationally.

“It is nonetheless concerning that students from minority ethnic backgrounds and those who commute report lower value for money. There remains work to be done if we want to make sure that the perceived experience of these students matches that of their peers.“
