University of Sunderland Vice-Chencellor Shirley Atkinson has been quoted in a Guardian article about universities preparing for the future.
She told the newspaper that differing fees, which Sunderland introuduced in 2012, had held limited appeal to students. “What they were interested in was being able to afford to come to university, being able to live well there, being able to travel to get there," she said. "They were far more interested in what we could offer them in terms of support.”
