Jess Sewter, Head of Partnerships and Placements at Leeds Trinity University, has written a blog for the Higher Education Academy on the power of work placements.
"We think that all students should have the opportunity to work in industry while they’re studying," she writes.
"Why? Well, an important part of LTU’s strategy is to create fully rounded individuals with a social conscience who contribute positively to any community they are a part of – and we feel our placement programme does this.
"Placements are obviously a great way to get experience before joining the job market – but they also boost confidence and help students to firm up their ideas of what career might be right for them. It’s a real opportunity for them to understand more about themselves and their place in the world."
