Education Select Committee inquiry into Further Education and Skills submission

The further education sector is currently navigating a series of reforms and challenges. The Education Committee held an inquiry to explore these issues and other pressures currently facing the further education sector, including the pay gap between school and college teachers, maths and English GCSE resits and students’ mental health.

MillionPlus welcomed the opportunity to contribute a written representation to the inquiry into Further Education and Skills, with a focus on a number of key areas in which modern universities have an interest and an important role to play:

• skills and apprenticeships
• supporting young people, widening access, and narrowing the attainment gap, and
• curriculum and qualifications in further education.
